Greaseweazle v4.1 mounted in 3.5" drive enclosure

Regular price $77.00 $0.00 Unit price per

Greaseweazle is a USB device that lets you read and write floppies in various formats from/to disk images on your modern PC.

This is the Greaseweazle v4.1 mounted in a 3D printed case, which hides away everything except the front of the floppy drive, essentially turning your setup into an USB-connected external diskette drive for your modern computer.

It comes with cables and everything else you need already mounted, ready to add your own floppy drive. Floppy drives are also sold separately, or as an add-on to the case. When bought together, the floppy drive will come mounted in the case, ready to use.

Contents:

  • Sturdy 3D printed case for standard 3.5 inch floppy drive. The case comes with  with black, 5 mm tall rubber feet mounted.
  • Greaseweazle 4.1 board mounted in the case.
  • 34-pin floppy data cable for use with PC floppy drive (Greaseweazle with a PC drive will read/write other system disks as well, e.g. Amiga). Let me know if you need an Amiga cable instead.
  • Floppy power cable for 3.5" drives.
  • USB Type-C cable, white (to connect to your modern computer)
  • 4 x Torx T-10 screws for mounting a floppy drive in the case.

Note about colours:

  • A1200 Beige / Off-White is our best attempt at matching the (non-yellowed) shade of off-white/beige of the Amiga 600/1200 machines. While a 100% match is likely impossible to find, this comes very, very close.
  • Glow-in-the-dark Green is a very light colour in the daylight, and it glows a faint green in the dark.
  • Semi-Transparent is (like the name implies) not fully transparent, but you can see the contour of the board, sort of like through a matte filmed window.
  • In general, the colour examples shown here might be slightly off from the actual product. Photographing colours and representing them accurately across various very different and very unknown screens is hard, if not impossible.

About the Greaseweazle v4.1

The Greaseweazle included here is v4.1, i.e. the newer version with USB-C.

From the Greaseweazle wiki:

Greaseweazle is a USB device and host tools allowing versatile floppy drive control. By extracting the raw flux transitions from a drive, any disk format can be captured and analysed: PC, Amiga, Amstrad, PDP-11, musical instruments, industrial equipment, and more. Greaseweazle also supports writing to floppy disks, from a range of image file formats including those commonly used for online preservation (ADF, IPF, DSK, IMG, HFE, ...).
